About Bluefolds

Born out of a passion for the Scottish Highlands

Meet Chris & Sue

Owners of Bluefolds Highland Holiday Cottages.

Chris and Sue welcome you to Bluefolds.  Bluefolds is our passion and as such we hope it will become yours too.

It all started in 2000, when we first arrived here on holiday with our family.  This resulted in us coming here almost every year until we had the opportunity to buy Bluefolds, and to be honest, we are still pinching ourselves.  That was in March 2018 and now that we are lucky enough to call Bluefolds our home, we are even more passionate about the place.

We love helping our guests get the most from this stunning area and to enjoy their stay in our cottages.

As we have got to know the locals it never ceases to amaze us how friendly and welcoming everyone is, and so we extend that warm welcome to you and look forward meeting you soon, come Spring, Summer, Autumn and of course Winter.

Here’s a little about us, Chris is a keen photographer and has improved his skills since moving here, as the scenery has to be seen to be believed and is a constant inspiration.  Sue volunteers in the Dufftown Whisky Museum and Heritage Centre and loves walking as well as baking.  We have two children and, so far, one granddaughter, she especially likes the wildlife that sit on the lawn.  They love it here and visit as often as they can, they loved their holidays here and want to share that with their partners and their families.

So we hope to be welcoming you here soon and look forward to meeting you and yours and hope that you will find Bluefolds as enchanting as we do.

Our Vision

We will continue the 4 star standards set by Steve and Elizabeth Oliver who we both would like to thank firstly for the numerous holidays we have had over the years but also the opportunity to put a massive lifestyle tick on our bucket list.

We plan to be active members of the local community and are keen to share our experiences and knowledge to promote the area. We have everything in place to ensure you have the holiday of your dreams; and maximize your enjoyment with information, simple inspiration through photography or the chance to interact with the community as well as the understanding to leave you to enjoy your tranquil retreat in the remote cottages.

Here For The Whisky?

If you’re a malt whisky drinker, you’ll be pleased to hear that Steve Oliver the previous owner is a true expert on Speyside malts and gives regular talks and tastings during the Spirit of Speyside and the Autumn Speyside Whisky Festivals based in Dufftown.

In addition, Steve assists Dufftown in running weekly whisky tastings during the summer season from July to September. He is always delighted to share his local insights with interested visitors and yes, you can be sure it is not difficult to persuade Steve to discuss his passion and maybe share a ‘wee dram’ at Bluefolds. Ask us about Steve’s popular “Around Scotland” and “Speyside Secrets” whisky talks and tastes.

Photographic Inspiration

Once experienced, this beautiful, wild, remote area is an inspiration to try and capture it forever, Chris shares Elizabeth passion for landscape, wildlife and local community photography, who captured it from every angle in all weather. I will continue to share the best places to take photographs and bring my own style through the Bluefolds Facebook page. Elizabeth will continue to run the Tomintoul & Glenlivet Highland Holidays Facebook page which shares and promotes examples of local photography.

We are looking forward to hearing from you and welcoming you here.
